Proceeding onward to layout table framing, 1x2, 1x3 & 1x4 for the layout, furniture grade pine vs. birch, asking lumber places locally, one place has 1x4, and 1x6 another but will need to be cut to sizes wanted.

Found some leveling feet at Ace Hardware SKU #5426274 - a customer said not for dining table, but looking like it will do for leveling a 10ft. x 3 ft. or 2.5 ft x 10 ft. and a 18in. x 8-10ft table work section. A wood working place gets all birch by board ft. various sizes, it would all need to be cut, losing 1/4 in. wide cut (knerf?)

Man, am glad I took wood shop in 7th/8th grade & at 14 in High School as a freshman, half a year & Electric shop the other half, 1960. I want to see my trains all running, not a huge area, but, can change out the locos & rolling stock, locos are Life-like good runners, Atlas, Kato, and Athearn. Cars, Atlas, Walthers, Kato, Concor passenger heavyweight & lightweight SP Daylight color sets. I still have my original concrete mixer Arnold Pen. Central FA1, I bought in Pasadena in '69 - never saw steam run on SP or anywhere else, except Griffith Park on short tracks or at Knott's Berry Farm in 50's, Buena Park, CA or Tweetsie in Boone, NC. My mistake then was not buying a board to set the train on, my Atlas Pacific gears got fuzz in the 4-4-2, and it derailed on the turnouts then. Futzed.

Have been sorting out my trains & buildings, rolling stock, seem to be missing a box somewhere, with my Weller solder station. First Table, then foam, track, then buildings. Was blocked by old house, no storage for the "babies". We moved rather quickly, retired, got new house, room for office/layout. Share with  parakeet at night.  Progress. Hope the Ace feet help another.  Hard to find those with site searches giving nothing like I wanted, .

Got to smile, been through this? Ran my trains on a 30in. x 4 ft board for a while (2000-2009, my E8A/B SF  Kato derailed cause of the 6 wheel trucks, Kato track in 11 inch & 12,5in radius handled that.  Way more futzing around with much of the stuff I bought, will have to address weighting the container cars later, need some weight to run well with or w/o containers. Got some tools, a corner thing for buildings, magnifying holder for assy. brush painting buildings didn't work well, guess thinner & washes would do better.  Steep learning curve. - Best!  Tom

Lets see - 4 legs are attached on the 2 inch side of the 2 inch outside part of the 2 inch x 3 inch  legs  (8 bolts at the top). 4 each ( I x 3 in. Angle Brace blocks- (8 bolts) - The detail at the bottom inside of legs looks like. a matching 1 x 3 block to space the 2 sets of legs apart with a  1 x 3 inch section length about 4 inches less than 18, about 16 inches long, (depending on real thickness of 1 inch thick boards.  It looks like the 2 inch swivel castors mount to a short section of block on the inside of the  1 x 3 leg section, and that the "Trestle board" which looks like a  1 inch  1 x 2 part brace. The top frame is  1 x 4 inch  Where do the 4 long 3 inch bolts go?  Ideas? - now for the rest of the puzzle? find original article in a box after move.  I *AM* getting closer.  More detail on castor mount would be helpful.  Cheers!

Was studying the list of items for the layout, but there are items on the list whose location is unclear, parts of 1x3 in wood, the crossbrace between the 2 sets of feet, the position of the all of the bolts, looks like an annotated list is needed. Not enough info. Some lengths would be usefull as well. I did articles years ago, but got to comment and correct the articles before publishing for Servicers of video & TV equipment, such as Stereo TV, HI-Fi VHS.  - best!  Tom

Have built a lot of things, mostly workbench, stereo equipment cabinet using particle board, was thinking about my anticipated 10 x 10 room layout, was thinking of 1 x 3 or 1 x 4 0 want rigid, and no attachment to room walls - I can follow the guide for my sections, legs, top, etc. - furniture grade pine with frame - not sure about piecing together 8 foot & 2 more feet, so it helps. It looks like much of what I did with my record cabinet for vinyl records done with plywood. Speaker boxes were done with 3/4 in particle, but it gets rather heavy. Can check what I bought for plywood, and lumber company, so can do parts of the 2.5 x 10, the 3.x 10 section, the 1.5 x 5 section, so can be off and running without 2x4 stuff. then can place track, decide Kato, Atlas or whatever track will be the least trouble, I like to run trains, that is relaxing.  Thanks Author, and y'all. Tom .
