Your attention to detail is amazing and the work you did inside the truck terminal is fantastic especially when you realize it is in "N" scale. Then your rock mold work is real eye candy....

Hello all, so many thank's to you guys !!

 

I have bring back my tools in hands this week and i have stared a new project. It's a factory to fit the zone of the double briges.

 

The factory is full scratchbilt in 1mm thick carboard. The protoype that have inspired me is the Gates Rubber Co. in denver.

Of course my version will be much smaller, and have a quite different shape !!

 

Here is the first piece cuted since 1 year :eek::

 

 

This piece have been fitted with doors and windows from Ticchy train group.

Metal boarning is from evergreen :

 

 

Here is the inside view of the building, Corners are reinforced with sqare wood parts  :

Hello guys !

I am waiting for some scratch building supplies to go forwar on the "spirit of denver" modules, so i will do a little flash back on the construction of some scenery elements on the Turtle Field part to wait ! :o

First i propose you a zoom on the S. GONZLES speed towwing and repair garage. It is the place to repair or feed in fuel all rolling vehicules in the Turtle field town.

To make the gas tank i used a tank rail car. I have remove chassis an made with plastic a retention. I also scratchbuilt the pump and brass pipes. The valves are comming from the tank car :

 







The primer from alclad II have been sprayed with an air brush :




I choose to affect the garage to the texaco gas supply company (love the star logo). I have paint with mask the white circle :



And now applying the mask of the star and painting the red, So the star will stay white  :



The retention have been painted in concreate and some whethering done :





I will post some more details on the construction of the S. Gonzales  Building.

To continue on the S. Gonlales Speed towing garage (Arriba, Arriba ! Ay caramba grosso mineto !  ;) )  , i will show you the contruction of the junk yard behind the garage.

I have wheathered some cars and trucks for it. i have used a decoration paint with two componements. One is an iron charged paint, the second is an oxidizer paint to transform the iron in the first paint into rust. Transformation take a day and is is a natural process you did not know how it will bee before realizing the process ... The result is surprising :

The garbage dumpster, and the loading dumpster mecanism of the Ford truck are scratch built.

I have just seen that you were modeling Japanese prototype. I have just puschase a tomytec T100 japanese tram to design my RDT ligth rail line for my layout. ( will help me for design radius, ramps and gauge).

I have bring the decision to built a part of Denver ligth rail on my layout when Kato/lemke announced theyre Bogestra DüWag in n scale :

It will be a good base to built RTD siemens SD100 or SD160. I have mailled Lemke The Model will be availabe in mid 2015 :

So for the testing of the RTD ligth rail line, i have purchased a tomitec T101. The video is in french but you can see the model, replacement of false chassis by motorised chassis, the digitalisation pocess and at 13min30 you can see the test on my layout ... amazing slow speed performance with the digitrax DZ 123 decoder :

Beautiful layout and very nice videos.  It had been a l ong time since I stopped in with the first comments, because, though I had seen the thread come up again and again, I knew I had visited it and did't check back.  My loss, you  have added much to it since then.

I wonder if more folks would see your great work if you posted it on the WPF (Weekend Photo Fun), as there are those who might not check in to a thread with just the name of the railroad on it.

Just a thought.  Beautiful work, keep posting it somewhere, as it is obvious those of us who have found it are enjoying it very much.

A friend of mine (Bernard FABRON) comes today at home to test his Kato Mikado Eqquipped with a Micro V4.0 ESU loksound decoder.

Hello all !

I have started the construction of the RTD ligth rail line juste behind my future Engine Facilities.

First part of the line a 25" long and curved bridge. The ligth rail run above and pass over the turnning triangle.
It's a two track bridge. It is fully scratchbuilt in styrene card and tripes.

First i have bent the I beam and sticked them on the base (cutted in one piece in styren sheet) :





Here is my prototype inspiration :



The second part is to made the poles. Poles are pairs big square bars sawed, sticked togever, Filled, mastiquated an sanded :





A tube for the pole :



Slater hand-rail and styren walkway complete the upper part :

That is some outstanding work. You seem to be a very meticulous craftsman, all the more impressive seeing as you model in N scale! I am looking forward to seeing more of your light rail project as it progresses!

 Hello all.

Today i am starting a new project : A glass and steel building

To start the construction a was needing  ...  tinted glass.

After two week of research, i have found the way to do that :  tinted glas film for tunning cars applyed on clear styrene sheet from evergreen.

Quite simple when you have found this way but some technics needed to aplly the film. Glad if the Tip can help someone.

Today some views of the construction of the main face of the glass building. It is the lighter structure whitch hold the windows. An heavier will comme later to hold the entire building.

I start to realise to templates symmetrically opposed to create the structure. Here is the putting togever of the square of .080 :

More strips .030 have been put together (46 pieces in this structure)



Here you can see the face verticaly with the entrance :



Starting the structure "Heavy Duty" whitch hold the buiding. It is composed of horizontal .080 sqare strips and vertical 3/16"  H columns. At this point there is 27 pieces on this heavy structure (73 part for the total face).



Some details. The ajustments betwin the light and the heavy structure need to be very precise.



Tomorrow i will start the reinforcement parts. To be continued ...

Here is the construction of the base of the building: the base has got 2 levels with a ramp and a stair between the two.
It's realized in 2mm thick styrene sheet for hardness.



The future concrete is engraved with wide rectangles at 45° of angle.



Realization of the stairs. Stairs are difficult to realize because the size of the steps need to be very precise to looks good. Here the steps are adjusted at 1/10th mm:

I just have finished the basement of the new building. It's take three weeks and 100 hours of work to put together and engrave the 179 pieces of this model.

It's in french, but you will see the globality of the basement. I think it is a better way to present this basement with a video because this model have a quite complex shape. It's HD720p so you can watch it on utube in full screen.
