I would also agree w/ epoxy, although other adhesives may work (contact cement, Pliobond RTV etc) when you have a very small contact area the epoxy is the strongest. Gorrila glue (polyurethane) is quite stong however care is needed as it want to expand as it cures.
Wood glue or carpenter's yellow glue may have a "stick" for a bond, however it relies on some type of penetration into the material to hold well. Dissimilar materials require other various products.

A couple of years ago I put together a wood convenience tray/snack stand that fits neatly atop the engine cover of my van. It has two can/bottle holders that are nothing more than 3" PVC pipe connectors. I joined them to the wood snack stand using JB Weld epoxy. The joints are so strong I can pick the whole thing up by either of the can/bottle holders.

Tryed them all out in the store. The 60 lb is very flexable and is coated with nylon coating. I striped the end and was able to connect to another piece.
hwolf Did you ever use Elmers Wood glue. I am looking at a bottle in front of me. I will post some progress pics tomorrow. I still have not figured what to use as a cable. I just bought some fishing 60lb test wire which I am going to try to see if I can solder into a loop..

I've used Elmer's before, but the Gorilla stuff dries faster, and rock hard, so I now use that instead of Elmer's. I guess use and try what you have.
That 60 lb. leader wire your going to use should be good....and look good, too, unless it's too rigid. Maybe even take a look at the picture hanging wire, as that is wrapped together like cable. Maybe try to "unravel" it, and "slice" it together, like they do with real cable, and then seal it all together with solder. The problem might also be that the soldered connection might not be flexable enough to go around the pulleys on each end. I think I would try the smallest gauge leader or wire I could find, for the flexablity reason.

I've also had good luck with Gorilla brand wood glue. Works good attaching dissimilar materials together, and dries relatively fast. Just make sure you clean up any extra, as it dries rock hard. Also, when I made the various tanks / silos for my industries, like the milling and baking plant, and the injection molding plant, I attached a wood block, like a piece of dowel that will fit snugly inside the pipe, to the base with glue, and a screw from the bottom, then glued the PVC to the block. Just seemed to make more of a positive connection.
Same with the metal bracket you mentioned, which I'm guess is the assembly at the top of the "tower" with the wheels, etc on it ? Maybe make something that will fit inside the tower, that the bracket can be fastened to.
Can't wait to see your project. Seems like we were all part of it for a while.

The Ski lift project is coming along great. I am having a problem of attaching the towers ( PVC ) to the wood base as well as the overhead metal bracket. What have you found to be the best?
