Got the blasted photos to post this time...

Some bashing and/or different takes on some common kits.  These are just mocked up shells without much detail yet, to make sure things fit.  As you can see, the layout is a work in progress....

Here's my powerhouse, built from Cornerstone's "Greatland Sugar Refining" and their "classic" 2-stall engine house.    Yes, there is a 2-track coal mine on the other side of the curved view block, so that the power house is always loads in, empties out.

REALLY like those interiors, MB. YesCool

Here's a couple of small projects I've done over the years:

Removable and functional track bumpers

A tool shed from an Accurail boxcar

I built this interior for my station out of foamboard and computer printouts.

The finished building looks like this:

I was thinking of the Walthers "Union Station" kit, but that was much too large for the space I had.  So, I took the Walthers YMCA, and shortened the side walls so it would fit.  This is a large stone building with big windows, so it was easy to turn it into a station just by putting in an interior and some lights to show it off.

It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.

Cafe-Gas Station made from Train Staion

I needed a "Route 66" style Cafe-Gas Station for my new Layout. Here is how I am using a "Yellow Box" kit of a Modern Station to build My Cafe-Gas Station. This will be up against my backdrop so only 3 sides will be in view. (the back wall will be made from foam-board. I still have more to finish but here is the start.

Mop head replacement parts "kitbashed" (?) into a barrel-vault roof for a dockside warehouse.

Roof and building front will hide passenger trains in layover staging.

This Moore and Company warehouse building got stretched a bit and will be a background structure close to the backdrop with industrial flats behind it:

The original:

The kitbash:

I am considering buying a second kit to make the structure into four stories but that might not be as easy to do as simply joining the wall sections end to end was.

I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!

Two houses from the old "three houses under construction" built as finished houses in a tract with houses built to the same plan, but occupied by different residents, in this case the Messy Family on the left and Mrs. Neatnik on the right.

One of those common "ranch houses" raised as a beach house.

A two-story split=level house made into an "alley house"

2-story Bachmann Sears Roebuck catalog house cut down to 1 story

Heljan station converted to a church.

The canopy from the Helman station ended up on a logging district saw store.
