Sliding rail joiners onto Altas track for N scale?

They don't make them like they use to. I found a couple of packs that I bought about ten years ago and they were a dream to put on compared to the ones you get today.

I use a small jewelers screw driver and put it in the slot (looking down on it) at the end that you will put on the rail first. Give the screw driver a slight twist and it will open up the slot ( very little ). The joiner will then slide onto the rail. Once one end is on the rail tweak the other slot and your good to go.
It takes very little tweaking to get them to open just enough but you will get a feel for it.

I developed a thick callous on that thumb through my track-laying days. I wonder if my thumb print was altered as a result... [xx(]

I will third the needle nose pliers suggestion. Wish I thought of that sooner myself. [:D]

Gentle use of a needle nose pliers works. A small straight balded screwdriver would also work. Those little buggers can be sharp sometimes.[swg]

My left thumb is really hurting from trying to get those little buggers on. Is there a less painless way to do this?
