1 x4's and 1/2 x 3/4's is all you need...2 x 4 is a bit too big for train layouts...wiring?...16 gauge stranded wire is recommended for long stretches but i have found that the wire the telephone company uses works just fine...(I always have something happen to my phone and the repairman is usually generous enough to loan me a few 1000 ft of wire from time to time after servicing my connection...power supply?...use 12 volt DC only for your train engines and the 16 volt A/C for your accessories..Chuck[:D]
