Can't answer your second question, but as for the first, I'd go with the Super Chief. It has one big advantage over the Empire Builder -- the command station has the ability to read back the values in a loco's CVs.

Hi, I have a 12 by 16 J shaped N scale (I have changed scales since my last layout update, very long story) layout, I plan on having 1 to 5 operators, should I use Digitrax's Super Empire Builder Starter Set or the Super Chief Set? I like the Empire Builder because its cheaper and I like the Chief because it looks like it has many more features.
While I'm asking questions, I saw on the Digitrax site something about being able to use Cab Signals, I know how prototype Cab Signals operate but how do these operate?
Thanks! [:)]
