Elevating Track
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, August 20, 2004 10:52 PM
I currently have a layer of homosote on top of plywood for my base. My track is all flat on the homosote. Total of 4 - 4x8 boards in a square shape with a center opening. What is te best way to elevate from a flat section of track up keeping the 2% grade and then back down again without cutting into the homosote ? I'd rather not use the technique of cutting the track width of the homosote to raise it up. Is there another method of placing something under the track to achieve the desired elevation ? (other than incremental plastic pier pieces)

I use the same layout. You can purchase TRESTLES, there are two types, graduating and evevating.

I'd like to know how to elevate Fastrack using trestles.

There are alot of train sites you can search for scenery/display/etc tips and detailed instructions.

Woodland Scenics Subterrain system has foam 2% inclines and level sections of various heights.

I tried to sell my two cents worth, but no one would give me a plug nickel for it.

I don't have a leg to stand on.

I second the Woodland Scenics risers. Used them quite successfully on a flat layout without having to cut into the foam base. Just remember to allow a little length to transition from the grade rising back to flat elevation.
