Using the Forum

Forgive me taking up Forum space for something that is either obvious or been done to death earlier in history, but when I click to a Forum topic and finish reading posts, or maybe replying to a post, do I have to return to page 1 of the Forum Index ? If I am browsing on page 5 of the Forum, can I return to page 5 or do I have to then click forward on the "page thingame" at the bottom of the topic index ?
Is it posiible to jump in and out without losing your spot on the Forum Index ?

Guys, please ignore my post....I feel like a cretin...I have somehow treated the Back icon as off limits when using the Forum....and Don't laugh' I just discovered that "It works !! "
I shall find a large leaf to crawl under for a while I think.....

Actually there have been some changes around here in the last week, but the back button was not one of them. [swg]

I've noticed that the search function is completely different, and now returns actual posts instead of just the topics that contain them. The back button only works if you have not posted to the topic. If you have posted, then you need to click on the level of forum depth that you want to go to, otherwise you are caught in a loop with the thank you message. Because I post on all of the forums, I use the active topic button most of the time. Very handy tool.

Thanks Big Boy 4005. Ask a dumb question and get a very useful answer ! This is a great tip as I like to view all Forums and find that t he time taken gets in the way of modelling. This tip allows quick viewing without chopping and changing. Good one !

You're welcome Geoff, I keep my active topics set at 12 hours most of the time, but then as you can tell I'm here a lot. Sometimes I want to see topics that have fallen off the board, then I'll set it to yesterday and catch them. One nice thing about the active topics is it will show you more than just the front page of the MR and Trains forums, which are most busy.

One other thing that happened a long time ago was that on the MR forum, I can no longer see which topics I've visited. They used to be highlited, and for some reason that stopped working. Others complained about that problem back when it happened, but it has never worked since. It does work with the active topics though.
