Athearn DCC kits
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, July 31, 2004 10:39 AM
Hello, I have a question. I was wondering, where you can get teh Athearn DCC wiring kit? Because, I saw it in the Kalmbach DCC book, at Hobbytown, so I was wondering if they sell the kits to wire DCC into an Athearn diesel?
Thanks!

Digitrax makes a wiring harness for Athearn blue box locomotives, DH###AT (where ### is the decoder series). Basically, it is clips pre-soldered to a standard wire harness, where the clips slide onto the necessary connections. No soldering necessary, but I've found that it leaves quite a bit of extra wire which can be hard to fit inside the shell. Any Digitrax dealer should have it or be able to order it for you. I have no idea if other manufacturers sell an Athearn wiring kit.

have also found that the solder between wire and metal clip is not the best, I would suggest getting one of the AT harness and just hard wire decoder, could prevent frustration in the future.
