I know what your talking about and i've seen them sold before i just can't remember were or the brand, if i do i'll post it but in the mean time you could purchase 55 gallon drums and use an exacto knife to shave off the rims, paint the reflective tape on and add the handel at the top with some plastic, that would pass if you ask me

Not sure what you mean by a construction barrel, if not a drum. Have you looked at the brass eraser holder on the end of a pencil recently? I've used those for trash barrels in a picnic area in HO, and they can be shortened if the natural height is not pleasing.

you could probably make them out of round dowel rods that they sell at the hardware store..I have noticed that the barrels are larger on one end then the other so..take the dowel rod...put it in a drill press chuck, turn it on, and sand one end of the dowel rod smaller that the other in a "tapered" fashion...cut it out to HO scale size and paint it...Chuck [:D]

Thank you both for your replies. Unfortunately, the steel drums were not quite what I was looking for, but, thank you. As for the cones, I have them already and have painted and weathered them and they turned out great. I make my own barricades using index cards and balsa wood painted silver and they look relatively good for my purposes.

Anybody else have any ideas? I do appreciate them whether they work or not.[:)]

Lots of manufacturers make 55 gallon drums (barrels), which you could easily paint safety orange. If you're looking for orange traffic CONES, Scale Structures makes 'em:

Would anyone have any idea on how to make those orange construction barrels in HO scale or if anyone sells them?

Thanks in advance
