well I think Im going to cut and stretch to closer to 1 1/2 % even though my helix is just shy a 2% ,at the top exit I have a S curve and need to lessen the grade/drag just a bit .its also double track so if I just stretch the outside trk of the upper S the inside well still be close to 2%. well I'l see how it goes tomorrow..Jerry

To a small but significant degree you can stretch or compress them to get variations.

If you think you have it right, your standards are too low. my photos http://s12.photobucket.com/albums/a235/ARTHILL/ Art

On the side of the incline sets box, they have a chart of how to add or subtract pieces to change the grade and keeping the rise and fall a smooth transistion.

Being old is when you didn't loose it, it's that you just can't remember where you put it.

To an extent, that will work.  Spacing the pieces out will lower the gradient, but the spaces in between the pieces may cause you trouble.

You will need something to bridge the gaps to keep your grade smooth.  You could glue a piece of styrofoam or plywood on top of the pieces but that kind of defeats the purpose of using the WS kit in the first place.

In a few areas on my layout, I used 1" blue foam cut to the shape of the roadbed, then raised up to the grade I wanted by using small blocks of blue foam to support the foam sub-roadbed.  Gave me a nice, smooth grade.

Hope this helps.

Darrell, quiet...for now

was just reading an nother thread on grades and was wondering if any have used this product to start a lesser % grade bye inlarging the spacing between pcs or cutting and spreading . other words, as is, its 0 to 1/2" in 24" or a bit over 2% grade ,but if cut & same pcs were spead over 36" it would be 11/2% or spred them over 48" for 1% grade .any one ever try this with good or bad results ? ...Jerry
