Thanks for all the tips and leads.
There is quite a variety in backdrop heights....from 13" Sceniking to 15" for Faller and18" for EZscenes and 24" for the Walthers Instahorizons that I have used.
Those of you who have used the 13" scenes from Sceniking...is this good enough or did you find you needed to paint some of your own sky panels above or something?
I would check out

* Do a search on walthers.com for the Faller backgrounds - mfg #272

I bought a Faller background and it is beautiful.
Here's a good source. They also have links about the process and how to mount them.
Good Luck

I've used EZScenes and think they're terrific!
I don't think anyone else has the variety of scenes that these folks do.
I would do everything necessary for the backdrop prep prior to doing benchwork... It will be much easier that way.
I secured mine using velcro for backdrops that may have to be lifted for one reason or another (like access hidden trackage behind) and rubber cement for those backdrops that are permanent. However let me say that even those can be moved if necessary... That's another reason why I liked using rubber cement. It's only permanent to a point.
Yes those backdrops are pricey, but I haven't seen anything better on the market. And to me a good scenic presentation starts with a good backdrop.
I am thinking of "upgrading" I guess you'd call it, to something like the EZScenes backdrops, even though the items are very expensive.
I have only used Walthers Insta Scenes before.
So........are the extra dollars worth it? I will be needing several of their 18" x 8 foot backdrops. Or is there a better deal somewhere? (Please don't suggest I paint my own...what an exercise in futility that would be for me.) I see EZScenes gives 40% on multiple item orders.
Also, in the past I have mounted backdrops to 2' by 3' 1/8" fibreboard panels. But I would need to eliminate the seams with long length backdrops....would pasting some extra lengths of wallpaper horizontally do it?
Thanks for any tips. I'm thinking I should get these panels up along the stud walls before I put down the layout tables and shelves.
I'll search the archives and email EZScenes for tips as well.
