Mike's new narrow gauge layout build thread
Posted by climaxpwr on Sunday, March 28, 2010 9:27 PM

Here is a pic of my new HOn3 narrow gauge layout under construction finaly.  This is most of the lower loop layed out and temporarly spiked down.  I know I need to paint the homasote to keep it more stable with humidity changes, but I needed to work on track radius's and the little C&S mogul and what it can and cannot handle.  A new transformer, older model MRC, is in the works as this one has automatic pulse power and the new coreless motor in the mogul wont like that.  Track plan is as follows, where the track disappears to the right, as it curves around at that end of the table it starts to climb upwards, crossing over the lower level on a wooden bridge, loops back around the front then starts back down, again on the right side and crosses under the upper level.  At the left lower front corner will be a single stall engine house/shop area with 1 outside siding.  At the right front corner there is a short siding for industry of some sort.  I plan on having a couple more sidings with industries to switch.  With the high upfront costs of the 2 brass engines, freight car kits ect, I was short of funds for the Homasote, but I got some free strips of it from the local club, just had to cut them to length.  I ran out and will need to pick up some more strips next Saturday to finish the rear corner of the table.  Once I seal the joints and paint it a light tan/brown color it should work good.  Enjoy the pic.   Mike
