Any suggestions on modeling tall grain or wheat? I have been having some trouble.

The easiest method is to use fake fur.

I've noticed some wild grass in my back yard with seed heads that could be used to represent wheat stalks when it's ready for harvest and has turned yellow, but gathering it and 'planting' them would be more work than it's worth.

The grass tops would also be grossly out of scale, except for corn in O or G scales!
