Modeling realistic tall grass on the Siskiyou Line

I use hot glue to glue down the silflor and fake fur ... you can see the link above for more details. I'm happy to entertain any questions you might have on how I use this stuff.

I too agree that ground foam has its limitations and am always looking for alternatives. I went to the Scenic Express website, but I could not find details on this product. Do you know if they make an N-scale version?

You can get various thicknesses of silflor. There are three thicknesses, short, medium, and high. The high stuff is what I'm showing in the photos. It's called: Autumn tone high pasture. I would think the shorter silflor should work very well in N scale.

Unfortunately, Scenic Express's web site is pretty disappointing. You best bet is to go to their web site, call their 1-800 number, and order a silflor sampler kit. That will answer most of your questions, you'll have some stuff you can use right away to see how it looks, and their hardcopy catalog is dynamite -- tons of great products, photos, and info ... unlike their disappointing web site.
