Walthers double track swing bridge

GOOD MORNING:

The first thing you should do is talk to your selling dealer and if he can''t help you then call Walthers. They have given me a lot of advise over the years.

CBQ_GUY wouldn't have a lot of his models if it wasn't for Walthers. They have probably done more for model railroading then anybody except Athearn. I started with both manufacters back in the early 50's and have seen them get a lot of newbies started. The newbies will usually move on to more complicated kits and models but it gets them into the hobby. If I need a quick scenery fill I'll use a plastic kit until I can get my laser cut or craftsman kit built. We should never forget that this is a HOBBY to be enjoyed and give us satisifacition.

In the 50's, people thought you were a slaker if you didn't at least have some handlaid ties, most of your track was Tru-scale milled roadbed and atlas switch kits. Flex track was just for newbies and they would move up as soon as they could. I'm building my 4th layout and it's all flex track with Walthers code 83 switches. How fast it goes and now I have time to build better buildings and cars.

I don't thing we would have near as much fun if it wasn't for Walthers and other manufacturers that put a lot of time and money into a product and then bring it to market hoping that we'll buy it. I hear about Walthers being out of some product - look at the size of their catalog - could you afford to keep at least two of all of those items in a wharehouse waiting for someone to buy it. I can't.

Please explain "That's Walthers for you". Are you saying everything Walthers sells does not work? That can't be, or else they wouldn't stay in business. Please qualify your remarkks, OK?

I have built, installed and wired the HO double track swing bridge purchased from Walthers. However, I cannot get it to operate properly. If I set it on the base, partially open, it will swing in either direction. When it close completely and contacts the switch in the pier, it will not reverse. Also, when I am opening it, it will not stop once it trips the switch in the base. I have replaced the DTDP switch that is installed along the power source, but to no avail. Anyone out there have any suggestions?
