General comments needed on latest track plan
Posted by Doc in CT on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 4:23 PM

Hi all.

I went back and reworked the track plan (see my CT Rivervalley RR), basically staring from a new sketch of the benchwork so I could enlarge the mainline radius to a minimum of 30.  Ended up with wider aisles and wider radii. I did not show the lower level staging which is 6 inches down from the base of the sub-roadbed (benchwork top).
There is a PDF file available here that has lots of detail when scaled up in Adobe Reader.  The legend at the lower right covers tracks, switch numbers and radius notation.
Primarily concerned with bottlenecks or bad curves at the moment.  Also, comments on the small yard in the center "blob".   Primary goal is running trains, with some operation. (Primary purpose is to provide an outlet for my creativity and spare time resulting from retiring).
Thanks
Alan

PS  In prototype the stretch of track from north of Enfield south through Windsor is single track on a double track roadbed, so I single tracked it on the layout.
