The article you inquired about appeared some time last year, but I didn't keep track of exactly when.
If you want to spend a while reading train elevator threads in these forums, just type "train elevator" (including the quotation marks) into the Search Community box just below your profile in the right column. If you select "in" Model Railroader Forums you'll get back a 26 page list of posts on the subject.
