Best N Scale Track
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, June 1, 2004 11:45 AM
I'm new to the hobby and about to build my first layout with the assistance of an experienced modeler. I think I'm going with Code 80. What's the best brand for the money?

If you are going with code 80, I think that Atlas would be the best choice. They have high quality and a wide selection of accessories to support it. The cost is also reasonable when compared with the other code 80 lines (thinking more of Kato).

I used Atlas code 80 on my latest layout.

Also note that Peco code 55 is actually code 80 in disguise. From what I understand, this is superior track, but it also costs more.

I have standardized on Peco switches (I like there positive locking, they don't need a switch machine to work), but I use both Atlas and Peco flex track and even some Atlas sectional track. I use Code 80 for main lines and usually use Peco Code 55 for sidings and spurs.

I tried to sell my two cents worth, but no one would give me a plug nickel for it.

I don't have a leg to stand on.
