A problem with using a fiber optic strand for signals would be the necessity of forming a 90 degree bend near the end so the lens would face forward instead of straight up. Fiber optics cannot be bent that sharply.
I have always think about the use of fiber optic for signal lens especialy because I am working in Nscale.
Some articles were published in MR about their use, one in the early 80's and just in the november 09 issues.
Did anyone have made a try and could you share your experiences even if they are in other scale.
Thanks and happy new year.
