Proto 2k 0-6-0
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, May 28, 2004 5:45 PM
Hello, All;
I have a Proto 2k 0-6-0 that looks great but runs poorly, with an obvious "hitch" every revolution. It's as though a rod was binding or a gear was wobbling. It's very quiet and will run very slowly (1 tie a minute), but at switching speeds it's worthless. The usual oiling and break-in hasn't helped. Anyone else have operating problems with their USRA 0-6-0? Also, I don't have DCC, just analog control. Could that make a difference?

Many Thanks;
smyers

I had a similar problem with my P2K 0-6-0, plus a grinind noise at speed. Life-Like (through Hobby Craft here in Canada) was very good, sending a complete replacement, with shipping at their cost included.

Don't take it apart - just send it back, and see what they can do for you. (One last thing you can check is if any of the little details just above the wheels got bent in against the wheels - those little plastic hoses etc are very fragile).
