Wow! It never fails. Whenever I put a Q on MR forums I get lots of really good advice. Thanks to all who responded.

BLMA chain link fence.
Google Tulle. It's the stuff that bridal veils are made out of. Better by far than screen wire, IMO.
Over the last year, I've had the good fortune to attend a number of wedding receptions (much better than the many funerals normal at my age). Each table setting has had a small assortment of candies wrapped in a fairly fine mesh that looks like it would make good fencing material. Similar stuff should be available at a craft store or one that supplies party materials. It seems to come in white, green, or red. Should be easy to paint a suitable rusty aluminum color.
I made my own out of this stuff and left over wire. Since this shot i've bought some florist wire for future fence support/posts.
Turned out OK for this dabbler:

Bill,
I am using Micronart etched brass fencing. There is 200 linear feet in each package. It is about 20.00 from Walthers. Also BLMA makes a nice fence that Lance Mindheim swears by.

What I found the easiest stuff to make a chain link fence out of is good stiff screen wire. We had some stainless steel screen we used for making filters thats real good it can be had at McMaster.com but I wound up going to the home center and found some pretty rigid aluminum screen wire. I cut it into long lengths approx. 10'scale feet high and 100' long. What I did was first draw a line on the ground where I wanted the fence to be. In my case it was a straight line between the tracks and a couple of rows of low rent housing if you know what I mean. I drilled holes in the plywood and used some scrap metal tubing I had laying around for fence post. The next day I went back clamped the screen/fence to the post and used some C/A to glue the screen/fence to the post. a couple of days later when I went back and hit it with a concoction of Flowquil rust and I then just hit it with some Krylon dulling spray I use it for Dull coat.
The key for me was using the stiff wires creen
You might take a look at the link below. I haven't tried it but I plan to get a kit when I get around to building my scrap metal yard.

Good luck.
Does anyone know of a source for already made HO chain link fence? I"ve tried the Walthers kit and it's clear from the result that I'm no detailed miniature craftsman.
Thanks
