i have oved trains since i was a little boy! Now i have my own house so i can build my own layout but i wi***o use hot wheels instead of the usual. Does this upset the overall layout look when it is done? My layout plans are a L-shape measuring15' by 5' on the foot and 8' by 10' on the head of the L. Opinions are greatly appreciated! darin

hot wheels will upset the layout because they are not to true scale..they are too big for HO and N scale and not big enough for O scale...the wheels look funny too ...your best bet is to purchase high quality cars and trucks that are built in the right scale if you want a prototype look to your layout...Chuck

Hot Wheels are closer to S scale than to HO, and would be horribly big for N scale. Take a Hot Wheels model and put it beside a true 1:87 HO-scale model and the difference is readily apparent.
