Problem with tortoise switch machine

I have installed some tortoise switch machines on my layout. Some work ok
but others just move the wire (throw arm mechanism) up and down and not left and right as they should. I can't figure out why, any ideas ??

A couple of things to check -- first, make sure they are centered over the hole and that the wire through the hole can freely move from side to side. If the hole is too small, the wire can't move far enough to throw the turnout from side to side. If the wire can move freely, try adjusting the fulcrum up or down to get more throwing distance.
