So I've been slowly converting my rolling stock from truck mounted couplers to body mount and using #5 couplers. I've tried both the standard Kadee draft boxes that have the "ears" for screw mounting and the snap together draft boxes. I much preferr the snap together boxes as I find it easier to assemble the coupler then install it rather than try to install and assemble at the same time. Also on the standard boxes I usually have to trim the ears off for wheelset clearance. Problem is I'm out of snap together boxes and I've lost the part number. I haven't been able to locate any at the LHS. Anyone know what I'm talking about and where I may get some? Hope they're not discontinued...

To solve the problem of trying to keep the standard boxes together while mounting, apply small amounts of liquid plastic cement to the seams. That holds them enough to get them mounted.
Good luck!
www.kadee.com will let you know why they are the only coupler company for many of us. They have a staggering number of different models for every situation.
