GreenGuard Brand Polystyrene Insulation Board
Posted by CascadeBob on Sunday, July 12, 2009 9:19 PM

My local Lowes has stopped carrying the Dow blue extruded insulation board.  They now carry GreenGuard brand extruded polystyrene insulation board in 2", 1" and 3/4" thickness in 4' x 8' sheets.  I did a search of this forum and found only one reference to it with nothing about any experience with its use.  The product is made by Pactiv and when I did a search of their website, the specs sound the same as for the Dow blue extruded foam insulation, i.e., they're both extruded polystyrene.  The GreenGuard seems to be a little more resistant to compression, but its surface is slightly textured, not smooth as is that of the Dow blue foam.

My question is:  Has anyone used the GreenGuard board and what has been their experience with it?

Thanks,

Bob
