On my layout, I have a mix of code 100 and code 83 track, which work fine.  Purchase  a package of Transition Rail Joiners  to join each transition in track code. Be saure to get code 83 joiners, since they will give you a tighter fit.  I solder feeder wires to every section of track to the bus wire below the layout(which are connected to the feeders by "suitcase connecgtors").   Just two curious questions:  Do you duck under to the center, to operate the layout?  What is the purpose of the partition across the center of the "hole in the doughnut"?   Bob Hahn

The easiest answer to your question is, after you add the four inch width, find the center of the layout from the sides and mark the same distance from the end along this line, giving you your new radius center. From this reference point, lay your circle of 22 inch radius snap track. Then lay another circle two inches out from this using flex track which is available in code 100 and 83 from Atlas (other codes available from other manufacturers). The only new track you'll need to buy is the flex for your outer circle. Five sections of 3 foot flex track should do it.

If I add 4 inches to the right side I can go with a 24 I have 30 inches on the right so I will have 26 remaining for an aisle -left side is against the wall

If the outer oval in the picture is 22", you're going to be hardpressed to have another oval outside of that. From looking at the picture, you've used up pretty much ALL of the space you have. Is the wall on the left side of the layout a permanent one? I've seen where modelers have made a tunnel through a wall, but ONLY if you have access on the other side. And before I did that, I'd definitely check with the other owner of the ME&O.

Transition track

I am currently set up for two ovals 22" / 18" and a crossover with  2 sidings off  the 18"using code 100

I don't like the 18"and figure I have room to add 4" to my width which would let me run 24" with 22"

The 2" between rail distance   is no problem as I am doing it now on the straights and I would be more  on the turns by not running the 22" up to the 24"

Atlas makes 24" radius in the code 83 (I don't want to use flex 100 on the turns) and I figure if I use transition track just before the turns on the 24" oval I will be able to use all the100  track I currently have

Anybody have any advice/experience  in doing this

Before I start laying Ballast and ground cover I want to make sure I am satisfied with what I have

I can live with the inner 18" if I have to
