I would either stop your tunnel short of the turnout or move the turnout so its not in the tunnel. Turnouts are the most common place to have a derailment. It's quite a pain to cleanup a derailment or fix an out of gauge turnout that's inside a tunnel.

 Depends on what your theme is...  If you're doing the Pacific Northwest, maybe a sawmill.  Northeast, some sort of manufacturing plant...  Maybe a big complex where one spur is for inbound materials and the other for outbound.

What kind of operations were you thinking about?  Also, you could stand to add a couple of short yard tracks.

 What scale?  Looks like HO. 

You could probably do without the two loops on the upper section next to the strip pit.  Change them to stub end  sidings to serve a couple of industries.

Also, you seem to have two main loops going on.  You could add a short siding where the connecting track is to give yourself an internchange between the two "railroads" where you can do pick ups and set outs.

 I think that i have finally decided on a layout.  any one that has a suggestion on what to change or add/remove ,  just let me know.  im looking for something to put between the edge of the river and something at the very far corner on the raised elevation. i just dunno what to put?layout
