If anyone is familiar with the Tropicana factory in Bradenton, FL I would be interested in hearing opinions of its suitability for a layout element. Pictures of the plant would be very welcome. I have looked at the site plan with Google Earth and it looks promising. The layout is in N scale.
Thanks.
If memory serves me correctly, I believe Model Railroader had an issue with a Tropican plant article in it. I think it was a plant in New Jersey, but I don't remember what issue..it was a few years back..

I think the Tropicana plant in Bradenton would be an excellent LDE. It is a large facility so you would need significant compression, although not any different from any other large industry. Unit trains in and out and the equipment is readily available in N-scale. Juice cars pass through Georgia at the head end of intermodal trains on my CSX layout and they look great; kids especially love them. Jamie

I model St. Louis, MO in the early 1960s. I like the idea of juice cars passing through on the head end of mixed freights. Would dedicated juice cars be seen in the early 60's? If so, I'll also have to think about whether the juice would be coming from Florida or California, and where it's ultimately going. Thanks!
