Further ruminations and refinements
Posted by rrinker on Sunday, February 22, 2009 3:11 PM

Another bit of scalign down - this time to 2x8. First of all, I started with this plan from Andrew Martin: http://andrews-trains.fotopic.net/p34771646.html

With slightly more width, I added another track at the bottom to be the actual main, changing the lower track in the original plan to a switch lead/AD track. What I've come up with is this:

I've put some placeholder industries in to get some sense of what's a siding and what's not. On the left, fromt he bottom, we have a siding, the main, switch lead, and another industry. On the right, fromt eh bottom, is the main, extension of the lead (possibly RIP track), 3 yard tracks, loco pocket, and an industry.

Operationally, there's room for a train to pull in, and the yard engine to sort the cars. The yard engine can then spot deliverys and pull shipments from the industry tracks and make up the outbound train. Nothing complex but I think there are good posisbilities to keep busy here.

Comments? Suggestions?
