UP & Running
Posted by LooseClu on Thursday, February 12, 2009 12:42 AM

Tonight I was finally able to run some trains... amazingly (to me) they ran fine.  The only glitch was one mixed up under the table solder joint in block # 2 in which the red stripe wire was soldered to the white bus wire rather than the red one.  It was quite pleasant to watch both my Shay and Climax (Bachmann HO) crawl around the mainline both were able to pull 5 loaded log cars up the big grade with the throttle set at 1.5 (out of max of 6).  My wife thought that was almost as exciting as watching grass grow.  I'd like to thank those forum folks who've told how to get this far because it had been 50 years since I tried to build a layout and I had forgotten what little I knew from those early years.  I suppose I'll get tired of watching those two locos haul logs over the pink flatlands and elevated open benchwork sections but for now I'm quite happy doing just that.... and amazed they make it around all my trackwork.
