I've also found that when you want/need a VERY fine spray mist, like when wanting to wet foam scenery without disturbing it, use a pump spray bottle like the ones used for hair spray. They give you a fine mist. Of course, whatever it is you're trying to spray through it better not be too thick!

Hope this helps.

I use 1 part gule to 4 parts water and it works great. I spray it at times for ground cover, but often (especailly with ballast) I dribble it on with a pipette.

Even 50/50 white glue is too thick to spray. What I do is spray the area to be glued with rubbing alcohol, then pour the 50/50 white glue on, followed by another spraying with alcohol. I tried, like you, to spray the glue and all it did was clog up the sprayer.

I use about a 60-40 solution of water and glue. Then some handsoap to break the surface tension.

I see this is your first post so [#welcome] to M.R. Forums

Give this a try, thin the glue with water about 60/40 and a drop of dish soap in a plastic water bottle and let it set over night and then draw it off from the top into your spray bottle.

I use an ear syringe to apply the white glue mixture , but first I spray a mixture of water with a drop of dish soap (wet water) on the area to wet it. Then follow up with more "wet water" after the glue is applied.

Ditto orsonroy. Rather than a spray bottle, I use the container that the glue comes in. Only, I dilute the glue with water (50/50 or 40/60) and put a few drops of dish soap in to make the liquid flow better. Another technique that I have used successfully, is to mist a mixture of alcohol and water onto the area that you want to apply the glue. This has the same effect as adding the soap to the glue: it allows the glue mixture to soak into and spread around the area without beading up or clumping the ground foam or ballast.

Be sure to rinse the bottle after your done. Also, and most important, spray clean warm water through your sprayer to wash out any glue mixture that is stll in there. Nothing worse than coming back to the sprayer a day later and wondering why it's jammed... [censored][banghead]

Yes, I've lost a spray bottle to that before. [D)][xx(]

50-50 may be a little thick. I try to shoot for about the consistancy of milk, which may be 60-40 or 70-30. More water, it still gets the job done.

Realistically, white glue will clump too much to spray effectively. You're better off spraying thinned matte medium, which has a finer texture. Even so, be sure to keep your spray nozzle CLEAN. Otherwise, the matter medium will dry up and clog the sprayer, making it useless.

I only use white glue full strength, or thinned with water and a little isopropyl alcohol, which I use on ballast. Instead of a sprayer, I just use the little container the glue came in.

White glue and spray bottles
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, April 12, 2004 11:16 AM
I'm having trouble spraying a 50/50 glue/water mix from spray bottles. The mixture doesn't spray out but splaters out. I've tried many types of bottles, from house hold cleaner bottles to bottles from craft stores. Also, I've tried adding more water, still splaters. Any wisdom on how I can get a misting spray?
Thanks
Dan
