I scratch built a little ready mix terminal out of some PVC pipe and some Evergreen stock.
Might be a little modern for your era, though...

Thanks Guys This should get the old brain working. If you smell saw dust pay no attention I'm just thinking. Grampys looks like some thing I could do. I don't have the elevated railroad but I should be able to work around that. I like the combination fuel and aggregate. It looks like a small town. Thanks again all.
Happy railroading.
Hi Lee: This is a combination of Walthers O.L. King & sons coal yard and Interstate Fuel & Oil. My model is based on a small complex where I bought building supplies. They sold coal, gravel, sand, cement, plaster, animal feed, lumber, concrete blocks, brick, fuel oil and tools. They received supplies by rail.
my little hick town had a ready-mix plant that was served off a siding on the old Wabash. they received cars of sand and gravel which were spotted over a dump pit and the material went up a portable conveyor to their storage silos or to piles on the ground. they moved the car around with a big front end loader to spot it where they wanted to unload it. reason for discontinuing rail service was the railroad saved the cars up until they had a bunch of them instead of spotting one every day or so with the local. that much at one time tended to overwhelm the small operation.

Hello
I'm looking for ideas for a small town gravel, / feed store, /concrete, or ready mix plant. I'm not sure that read mix goes back to the early fiftys, and I don't have room for a large plant. If anyone can help.
Thanks
