When I forwarded the plan to you, I suggested you get the entire MR story, which started in December 1970 and ran thru most of 1971. Check around for used MR mags and you'll find them.

Margaritaville. ha! i love it <-------you like my visual pun?
Hello there, I've got a coffee table layout. Mine is 4' x 2' and is actually a coffee table made by Ikea. I bought it for around 150.00 two years ago. It's pretty nice, as it has a glass top, and a shelf below it. The distance from the shelf to the glass top is about 10 inches, so you can model some moderate mountains and trees. I'm uncertain however if Ikea still makes it, so you may have to search their website or catalog.
As far as track plans, my layout is a small loop with a modified John Allen "timesaver" switching area inside the loop. The switching area works one side of a port/inlet and gives a excuse to make piers/docks. At one corner of the layout I have a small siding that goes to a logging area. The grades on this layout are pretty steep, but it was one of those compromises you sometimes have to make. I'm unable to email a track plan right now, so you may have to go online to get a drawing/discription of a timesaver layout. Just stick it inside the loop of track and you pretty much have my track plan
My Avatar on the top shows a scene from my coffee table layout. The theme is hawaiian/tropical, and some call this the "Margaritaville RR".

you mind flinging a copy my way too? i might like it more than the one i have planned. oh an make sure to put something like layout plan in the subject otherwise i'll mark it as spam and delete it. i get so much already......
after reading that i was inspired too. $$$'s kinda tight so the coffee table plan really appealed to me cause then if we found someone to rent out the back room too we could. i lucked out though, just so happened one day long while back someone through out a coffee table. it's not professional made, most likely a home project or some kid did in shop class, but it's still good. i honestly think they tossed it out cause the glass top insert was missing. stopped the car, put it in the trunk, and told the wifey "i can find a use for it" when she gave me a funny look. i should build that first before my shelf lay out just so i can show her.
The plan i emailed you is a two level 2X4.
Curt I am looking for the plans for a coffee table layout. I would like to find one that is 2'x4'. Does anyone know where I can find the actual plans for one. i sw the plans in the current Model Railroader. I like them but just want to make it a little narrower.
