My wife and I finally bought our first train, a G scale Bachman North Pole. We set it up around the xmas tree. Grandkids loved it. The tree is down and the track has expanded to most of the living room floor. We are planning to take it to the back yard this spring. It will be a work in progress! We live in SoCal but were in Philidelphia this past week and happened to go into Nicholas and Smith. My guess was a couple thousand locomotives in stock. All scales. I think we are going to like the new hobby. Nev
Hi, Nev. Welcome to the forums at Kalmbach Publishing.
Had you intended to post to the Layout Building forum under Model Railroader? This set of sub-forums generally deals with N, HO, and S scales, but there is a G Scale forum dedicated to folks such as you. If you wish, I will relocate your post to that forum.
Welcome aboard!
They don't call it The World's Greatest Hobby for nothing.
Personally, I work in HO, but I envy those with the real estate and weather to run their trains outside. (Yeah, I know Marty Crozad plows real snow off his track with rotary plows in South Dakota, but he's kind of an exception.)
Maybe, after retirement, my wife will let me make some improvements to her garden...
And as for age, with trains, it's never too late to have a happy childhood.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
Relocate me. I"ll be a little more careful in the future. Thanks, Nev
I am pretty sure that our first train wont be our last. We are going to train store today. We want to start inside with an elevated set, probably HO. We still have a lot of questions such as how much room for turns, different track, etc. My wife is really into it and that is a great help. Nev
