Dave, Tom and Packy,
Here are the references:
Operation on the Gum Stump & Snowshoe,
Model Railroader
, April 1966, page 32. Article also published in
Track Planning Ideas from Model Railroader
, page 10 (OPERATION, SHELF, TRACKPLAN, "YUNGKURTH, CHUCK", HO, MR )

Search engines are fickle. Didn't turn up under the full name, or just Gum Stump, but did under Snowshoe. Chuck is still active in the hobby.

The Gumstump and Snowshoe in MR some years back was a simple two level shelf layout. As I recall, it was about 1 ft wide and 6 ft long. i built a version of it because I had no room for anything larger. It was fun to operate.

My recollection is that there was also an article on the Gumstump & Snowshoe which was somehow related to the other layout, and has often been reprinted. Perhaps it can be found using the index research method Bob mentions above.

Thanks for your reply. I should be able to find it now that I have the issue date and the correct spelling.

Packy,
According to the Index of Magazines, my friend Chuck Yungkurth's article:
The Belafonte & Snowshow - a railroad for solo operation,
Model Railroader
, September 1963, page 51 ( SHELF, TRACKPLAN, "YUNGKURTH, CHUCK", HO, MR )
should be available either from Customer Service at this site or by requesting a copy from the NMRA's Kalmbach Memorial Library:
http://www.nmra.org
Or, you might get lucky and find a copy at a train show or at a used book and magazine store.

How can I find an old (1960's) article from Model Railroader by Chuck Youngwurth on his Bellefonte & Snowshoe layout?
