I have the correct Kadee couplers, have screws which will work, but no idea how to mount them to the body. are they supposed to slip through the coupler pocket or go in from the inside? Someone Give a little help, please.

I'm not familiar with the Kato RS2, but on other Kato locomotives that I own the coupler slips into the pocket from the end. My Kato models have a plastic cover that snaps over the coupler pocket to hold the coupler in place, so no screw is required. Instead of Kadees, I used McHenry or Bachmann knuckle spring couplers. Mine are all HO scale. If you're talking about N scale, things are probably different and I can't help you there since I don't, and never will, own anything that small with my poor eyesight.

If we are talking about HO scale, and an older RS-2, then the answer is yes, the coupler slides into the end of the shell through the pilot opening. I assemble the Kadees in Kadee coupler pockets, trim off the screw mounting holes on the side, and slide the entire coupler/coupler pocket into the opening on the end of the shell. Then, its just a matter of installing the screw into the coupler pocket and chassis.
