ken_23434I guess some times you would specifically want to derail a train
Not necessarily a train, but perhaps a car or two. For example, if there is a siding off the main where there would be a downgrade from the end of the siding to the main. If someone forgot to set the handbrake properly, or if vandals would release the brake, the car could roll off the siding and onto the main. There have been instances where a runaway car has travelled quite a distance. In this situation, the derail would be used to derail the car away from the main to prevent an accident.
OK, thanks. I guess some times you would specifically want to derail a train.
I believe that this was discussed here: http://cs.trains.com/trccs/forums/p/126196/1423519.aspx#1423519
Can someone tell me what this is?
I am guessing it is used to re-rail cars. But, the name says derail. Not sure why you would WANT to derail something.
Here is a link to where I saw it listed.
