Funny that you should ask. We replaced a 90' Heljan TT with the 130' Walthers TT. It was a challenge because we didn't have a center hole. We also hit studs underneath the 3/4" pressed board. It worked, but it was a mess. It is a great TT, with no glitches.

Yes it looks like I can make that work. Yes, I too have a lot of stuff in boxes while I work away at building, cutting, sawing, drilling etc which is taking a long time! But then I am buidling a double decker that climbs around the perimeter in my loft. Sloping roof space is not an easy place to build! But it's looking pretty good so far.

I have the Walthers 130 foot TT also.
Just haven't decided exactly where I want to place it yet.I have decided to work on other area of my layout for now.Sarted building my center divider-backdrop.
Making it out of 2 inch thick by 16 inch high foamboard ( pink) Will cover it with a paper used to resurface drywall, then paint it, and add details later.My layout is designed to be totally moveable, so the backdrop boards will mount with7/8 inch dowels extending up into the foamboard backdrop , and then down through my 2 inch thick foamboard tables( 3- 6 foot by 8 foot) tables end to end.
The dowels will fasten with screws or bolts under the tables, so they( center backdrops) can be removed if necessary.

I happen to have that 130' still in the box. As is 99% of my train stuff..... ((heavy sigh)). So I took her out and set it on my work table. Top of lip to bottom is exactly 2". So you can take it from there.
Some day soon I'll be running big boys and what not over it........ someday soon.....

For best results your new turntable must be installed on a flat, level surface. Determine the location for your pit; use the enclosed template to cut the mounting hole in your benchwork. Allow at least 2-1/4" (5.7cm) of clearance below the pit.

As a preliminary to an answer from someone who has that turntable, my 90' built-up is about 1.8" from the top of the perimeter lip to the bottom of the drive housing below the turntable. With the wider pit, the slope of the bottom of the pit should extend that to just about 2.25" on the larger TT. If you know you have just over 2.25" of clearance, you will be fine.

Dead simple this one if you have a Walthers 130' turntable! I'm in the middle of building my PRR / NYC Ohio layout in HO. If I move my original plan for where a 130' turntable will go, I can make a little more space for my coaling and servicing area. Unfortunately, where I want to move it to, the space under the 3/4" ply is a bit tight. I have the template for the Walthers 130' turntable (18 1/4" hole etc) but I need to know the depth of the turntable and any under layout mechanisms / electrics so I can decide if I move it or not. Can anyone help please?
