If you ever fall over in public, pick yourself up and say “sorry it’s been a while since I inhabited a body.” And just walk away.

Jason,

First off: Sign - Welcome to the fourm!  Good to have you aboard! Smile

Simply put, a reversing loop is a loop of track that comes around back onto itself and allows a train to change direction.  Here's a picture of a reversing loop that I found on the Internet: (Ignore the labels)

Unfortunately, this same reversing loop creates an electrical short.  So, it needs a switch - either a manual or an automatic one - to reverse the polarity of the rails inside the loop before the train goes back through the turnout.

Jason, does that make sense?  Or, does it need further explanation?

Time...It marches on...without ever turning around to see if anyone is even keeping in step.
