Is your real name Bob Villa? Boy I wish I lived next door to you! I have the spaces but not the wood working skills for a great bench like yours is going to be.
My new section is only 9.5 feet X 5 feet and I have been working on it for a year and a half. Get started, run out of money, have money and no time, have time and money get sick. Finally got it looking like something and feel great again, No money?
Keep us posted, the pictures of great work like yours keep me going.

Last week I was frustrated to look back and not be further along than I am. The bench work is in place for the most part. The sub roadbed is complete except for one section that I hope to get to in the next week or two. I started laying track in February but came to a standstill between March and July where very little progress took place.
Since August I have laid a considerable amount of track. Most of that has taken place in the past two weeks. Just a couple weeks ago I was on here wondering if I would get one of the main lines running before Christmas. Well It looks like I have less than 10' to go for that to happen.
Below are a few pictures of the progress I've made over the past 14 months.
8-15-07 Just starting the layout benchwork
9-13-07 Lots of progress made in one month
10-24-07 Benchwork is progressing
1-16-08 Backdrop separating the semi hidden staging area is going up
2-16-08 Staging area trackage is in place and leading out to the main line
8-04-08 Not much progress took place from March through July. August I started making more progress laying more cork roadbed
9-10-08 I laid three boxes of cork and am waiting for more to arrive before I can continue. Progress is looking good
10-5-08 Got two more boxes of cork roadbed and have laid about 60% of the track
So after wondering if I was going at it slower than most it looks like progress has taken off again in the months of August through October. At this point I feel I can easily have both main lines in operation by Christmas.
Thanks to everyone for their input the last couple of weeks.
