Converting Central Midland HO-29 Layout to N-Scale

I am planning to build the Central Midland HO layout but put n-scale track on it. BUT when I got home I realized my space isn't big enough to build a 12' x 10' layout.   So I got to thinking that HO is 1:87 scale and N is 1:160 scale.  What if I took the plans that state 1" = 1' and change it to 1" = .3/4'? (25%). It's still bigger than it should be to put n-scale track on it and it will fit in my room. What do you think?   Also if I reduce the layout ratio width x length, could I also reduce the elevations by 25%?   Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Sure, you can do that, and as you said it should give you more room for scenery. Multiply the length and width dimensions by .75, and remember that you can also decrease the track spacing (which will make the plan roomier yet). Multiply the height dimensions by .75 as well, as you said, but remember to watch for clearance height. I don't think there will be a problem here, since the plan is already designed to clear HO equipment.
