IRDEnterprises,
Sorry for the delay in answering your question. While some other brands have their partisans, I would recomend body mounted Kadees in all their infinite variety - although you may have to resort to truck mounted Kadees for some equipment-track radius problems. Of course you have to understand that when I started, my first two kits had Mantua hook and loop couplers, my third kit had a non-working, near scale plastic coupler (Varney?) and not too much later, my Devore dynamometer car had Devore working couplers ! Obviously I was going to have a problem coupling them together. [:)]
I would like to suggest that you enter "couplers" in the "Search the forums.." window and read the discussions in some earlier threads before you make up your mind as to which brand to choose.

Thanks. This is my own 12' x 12' x 2' layout so, I won't be sharing it with other people. Now that you metioned it, what couplers do you recommend?

IRDEnterprises,
You may want to go to the NMRA's site and look at the standards for modules for HO scale:
http://www.nmra.org/standards/ms-1_0.html
However, if you plan to share your modules with a group, you may also want to ensure that the group's standards are similar to the NMRA's. Also, to some extent, the answer is dependent on the length of the rolling stock and style of couplers you plan to use. You may want to do a test setup to determine if the recommended spacing on a curve is adequate and looks okay for your longest and widest equipment.

I'm starting my first serious HO modular layout, what should the spacing be between parallel tracks and how far in from the edge of the module should the track be? -Thanks
