Modeling the Alaska Railroad will prove interesting.
Is the Deanli station in the National Park? If so then you might be able to get the plans for it from the National Park Service or the Library of Congress.
What time period of the Alaska RR are you modeling? Modern era could include passenger traffic from Anchorage to Seward to an awaiting cruise ship.
The port as Seward would be interesting as it could include a cruise ship, super tanker, and large container ship.
You could also model a oil spill with a bunch of dead birds and stuff

The oil spill would be easy: build regular model RR water with birds and stuff, then spill some black paint on it.
Serously though, modeling the Alaska RR could have some interesting work going on such a container ships and cruiseships in Seward and good scenery.
What kind of interchange does the Alaska RR have? I assume it ties into the CP somewhere in the Yukon?

No, there is no direct rail link with Canada or the lower 48 US states, railcar barges provide the connections (from Seattle, I believe). Proposals have been made for such a connection in Canada, but have stalled.http://www.akrr.com

What about the White Pass? I realiza it's narrow gauge but is there anywhere that containers are transferred dierectly, or only through ships?
