Looking for a quality walk-around throttle with memory
Posted by jwr_1986 on Friday, March 12, 2004 8:45 AM
My club is at the point that we need to decide which walkaround control system to use. If anyone can pass on thier experiences and the contact info for the respective companies I'd greatly appreciate is. We're specifically looking for a DC walkaround throttle with memory.

Thanks,
Jesse

If you have any electronically adept members, then the fellow at www.awrr.com has some very nice schematics of one that has me vacillating between building it or buying an Atlas Commander DCC unit.

You should have a look at the Aristo Craft wireless throttle system (I think its now marketed by a different company).

Some of us around here are using the GML Throttles with great success and we are very happy with them. If I decide to go DC on my basement layout (if I ever get it built!) I'll probably go with the GML's. They're web page is at:

Someone also mentioned the Aristocrat radio throttles. I have used these on a friend's layout and I like them. My thought was to use them for through freights and passenger trains on my layout as it will be a lot simpler to walk around following the train without having to plug/unplug a throttle every so many feet. Their web site is at:

http://www.aristocraft.com/

I recently have heard of another brand of walk around, radio (?) throttle but can't recall the name...something like Lynx (no, not rail lynx), Lenz (no, not lenz dcc, either). It's a one syllable word and I am fairly certain it starts with the letter "L" . Maybe someone else on the Forum knows.

Take care,
