another odd question
Posted by modelbuilder on Friday, July 18, 2008 11:34 PM

Is there any company out there making an HO scale version of a diesel engine. Not the locomotive but the actual power plant that powers them.

Not having looked for one I can't say definitively but I believe so.  I would check on Walthers site or in their catalogue.

Here's another topic about that. There's a Walthers link to it in this thread.

Thanks for the link. Any modern engines out there in HO scale?

Engine as in prime mover, or as in locomotives?

Rotor

I know for a fact that Walthers is the only one that has a model of a diesel prime mover. It is a 567 B or C. If you want to model a 645 or a 710 series prime mover, you will need to buy extra kits ( To go from 12 cylinder to 16 by cutting and splicing) or cast your own from resin as I have. To model the 645 or the 710 , you will need to look at a enclycopedia of deisel locomotives and see if any of the drawings show any details that may need to be added.

Prime mover. I am basically looking for a power plant or two for modern locomotives such as the SD50, SD60, SD70 and such and DASH 9s
