BC&SJ peninsula construction started
Posted by BCSJ on Thursday, July 17, 2008 11:44 AM

Finally (after 4 years) the construction of the peninsula on my Bear Creek and South Jackson has begun. The main part of the peninsula will be held up by 4 TJI (engineered) joists on 3 pairs of legs.

If your interested in what/how I'm doing I've put pictures on a page on my website

Very nice indeed! Thank's for giving us a look at your benchwork construction techniques. The engineered joists seem to be gaining in popularity when applied to elemnts such as long peninsulas. I have been following the progress of your layout via your website for about a year now, and I can not say how helpful it is to actually see a functioning layout incrementally come together. Not to mention how much I also enjoy viewing the photos of the finished sections! Jamie

Thanks Sub! I'm glad I can be of some help. Last night we finished glueing and screwing the top of the 8'x8' table that will hold the helix together. Now I'm thinking about how I'm actually going to build that helix!  I'll put up some more pix when I have enough to make it worthwhile.

Cheers,
