Yeah, in DCC there's no problem at all. In DC, you probably want to isolate one rail of the siding (with an insulated rail joiner, or just a gap) and run the power to that rail through a toggle switch. That will let you shut off power to that siding, and store and engine there without it coming alive when you power up the loop.
One of the big advantages of DCC is that you can park an engine anywhere, and it will stay put until you tell it to move.
