I just purchased 10 Atlas #8 "Custom Line" switches for my shelf switching layout.

As the saying goes, "You get what you pay for".

My locos click and clack, go up and down as the trucks go over the notch in the rail for the switch points and they fall into a pot hole when the trucks go over the frog.  I will have to take the advice of folks and add styrene strips to all of the turnouts to alleviate this problem.  If I were going to build a large layout I would not buy the Altas turnouts ever again!

If they expect to sell anymore products, then they should issue a recall notice soon.

I've alot of those same turnouts on my layout and the only time I ever had problems like you described was when I was using  pre RP-25 wheels.  Code 83 track will not work with the old wheel sets. One of the reasons Code 100 is so fault tolerant.

 Just my 2 cents

Don't forget to inquire about shipping costs for track.  They tend to be higher than other packages which are shipped by weight.  Shipping can be brutal on track unless it is packaged really well.  Me I'd rather pay full freight at the local hobby shop just so I have the opportunity to inspect each piece.

If you mean Snap-Track, go to Hobby Lobby with their 40% off coupon. They sell the T/Os for about $11 regularly and if you print their coupon from the website (it runs about every three weeks) you can go to one store each day with it; in Denver, where I live, you could print a bunch of them, go to several locations on, say, Saturday, and then go again Sunday.

...not that I'd recommend Snap-Switches, but they would be cheap.

Try 1st Place Hobbies (www.1stplacehobbies.com) or Standard Hobb Supply (www.standardhobbysupply.com)
